PIZZA PARTY AFTER DRESS REHEARSAL ON MARCH 2! (posted 2/21/08)
WYO will be having pizza & drinks after the dress rehearsal (approx. 4:00) on March 2nd. I will have a sign up sheet and be collecting $5 at Monday's rehearsal - also please let me know if you can donate cookies or brownies. Thank you! Colleen Coleman, 757-872-4772.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS YEAR'S CONCERTO COMPETITION WINNERS! (posted 2/14/08)
This year's winners are Rebecca Dudley, flute, and Kathryn Harms, harp. Congratulations should also be extended to every one of this year's performers as they all did an outstanding job!

PARENT ALERT! VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED FOR SILENT AUCTION! (posted 1/25/08)
The silent auction is one of WYO'S largest fund raisers and March 2nd is quickly approaching. In order to make the event a success we need parent volunteers! The following positions are available:

1. One person to register bidders and hand out bidding cards from 5-6pm and during intermission
2. One person to stand at the poster with the list of the winners and pass out winners' claim tickets. (approx. 15-20 minutes)
3. Two people to retrieve items sold and give them to the winners after payment.(approx. 30 minutes)

Our gift baskets were very profitable last year! We need a few parents to get donations from various establishments in Williamsburg. This is very easy, each volunteer will be provided with the contact information (address, phone number and managers name) of businesses who have donated gift cards in the past.

Also, just a friendly reminder, you may send any basket or auction items with your child to each rehearsal. If each family contributes one item, imagine what we can do! Students will be receiving more information on this years basket themes at Monday's rehearsal!

The deadline for all donations is Feb. 18th. Please contact me with any questions at carol61049@yahoo.com . Your participation is greatly appreciated!

Oboe player Lauren Halyo was selected to join other talented, pre-college age musicians from around the country to perform on "From the Top", NPR’s hit radio showcase for America’s best young classical musicians (click here for more info on the show). Her performance aired October 16, at 8pm. CONGRATULATIONS LAUREN!

Please be aware the WYO trip to see the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington in February has been canceled. (Not enough students participating.) You can pick up your $80. deposit checks (they were not deposited) from Colleen on Monday at Orchestra practice. Dr. Feldman is looking into a day trip to see a concert. As soon as we find out information we will let you know. Sorry for any inconvenience!

WYO would like to place an ad in the area high school newspapers, so if any of the symphony students are on the newspaper staff (or you have a friend who is) at Warhill, Jamestown or Lafayette please bring an ad form to rehearsal.

WYO WELCOMES NEW SYMPHONY CONDUCTOR (posted 6/25/07 by Victoria Little)
WYO is very excited to welcome our new Music Director and Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Evan Feldman. Dr. Feldman is currently the Director of Bands at W&M where he conducts the Wind Symphony, directs the Jazz Ensemble, and teaches conducting and orchestration.  His extensive educational background includes a Master of Music in Conducting from Ithaca College, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from Eastman School of Music. Students from the Symphony Orchestra have already met Dr. Feldman and, in the short time they had together, they were impressed by his contagious enthusiasm for music and his ability to communicate and teach.  We are looking forward to the next season with our new addition!
