The Williamsburg Music Club (WMC)

Grants-in -Aid Program: WMC holds a music competition for serious music students every year in March. Application deadline is usually in January. Generous scholarships are awarded to the winners in Junior and Senior divisions. Many of our past and present members were participants and winners of this competition. National Youth Ensembles of Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI)

"Each summer, WMI brings together the brightest young players from across the country to form the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) and NYO2. In the summer of 2018, WMI launches NYO Jazz, a new program for gifted young jazz musicians." In 2018, NYO-USA will return to Asia for a tour with conductor Michael Tilson Thomas and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Applications open September 12, 2017. Summer of 2017, the orchestra traveled to Latin America with conductor Marin Alsop and perform a program that includes a new Carnegie Hall–commissioned work by Gabriela Lena Frank and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1.
American Protégé Music Competitions

"American Protégé is designed for young musicians, actors, and singers on the path to a successful career. We invite all talented youth to demonstrate their potential during American Protégé 2017-2018 Season. A new season’s program has been announced and is in full progress offering a number of music competitions, including new ones, where the participants will have an opportunity to showcase their unique talents."
American Protége has many categories of competitions with deadlines in January and February 2018. Winners will perform at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
The Chamber Music Society of Williamsburg

"The society was founded in 1987. Its purpose is to bring to Williamsburg chamber ensembles with national and international reputations. In doing so, it cooperates with the Feldman Chamber Music Society of Norfolk in order to obtain chamber music of distinction at a reasonable cost."

The 2017-18 season brings six chamber music ensembles. All concerts are held at the Williamsburg Library Theatre of the Williamsburg Library. Student season subscription is $30 each.
